Welcome to souls of hip hop: daily power thoughts. Harnessing the power of thought is fundamental and designing your best life and nourishing your soul. In this season, we share quotes, take-aways from our guests and affirmations to energize your day. Let this season help to awaken your best you, uplift, inspire and bring daily joy. Knowledge is power. Today's power thought comes from an American writer and civil rights activists, Maya Angelou, I read her book I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings when I was 11 years old. Her work gave me a sense of hope, and also made me feel that even though there were hardships that my life had meaning, here's the quote, "my mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive, and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." When we are faced with challenges, it is difficult to understand the meaning of those hardships. But thriving isn't exclusive to expressing yourself through making art. It's bringing creativity, compassion, fun, and your own uniqueness into all aspects of your life. It's adding that to whatever you are driven to be and do.
