Welcome to Souls of Hip Hop: Daily power thoughts. Harnessing the power of thought is fundamental in designing your best life and nourishing your soul. In this season, we share quotes, takeaways from our guests and affirmations to energize your day. Let this season help to awaken your best you, uplift, inspire and bring daily joy. Knowledge is power. Today's power thought comes from the book, "the body keeps the score" written by Boston based Dutch psychiatrists and pioneering post traumatic stress researcher Bessel Van der Kolk. The book is an intense read packed with science and human stories. Here's the quote; being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health. Safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives. There are countless disaster response studies that have shown that social support is the most influential protection against becoming overwhelmed by stress. Many times it is easier to think of our memories as being located in our brains or our minds alone. But memories are physical too. And the stress we experience is held in our bodies as well. So today, tell

yourself:

I listen with love to my body's messages. I now choose to feel safe and secure. I listen with love to my body's messages. I now choose to feel safe and secure.
