Welcome to Souls of Hip Hop: daily power thoughts. Harnessing the power of thought is fundamental in designing your best life and nourishing your soul. In this season, we share quotes, takeaways from our guests, and affirmations to energize your day. Let this season help to awaken your best you, uplift, inspire and bring daily joy. Knowledge is power. Today's power thought is about equity and business and comes from angel investor, creator f AngelList billionaire and philosopher Naval Ravikant. Here's the quote, you want to own equity if you can. If you don't own equity in a business, your odds of making proper money are slim. Equity represents the value that would be returned to a company's shareholders if all of the assets were liquidated and all of the company's debts were paid off. We can also think of equity as a degree of residual ownership in a firm or asset after subtracting all debts associated with the asset. Having equity in a company means that you have a stake in the business you're helping to build and grow. You're also incentivized to grow the company's value in the same way founders and investors are you must own equity a piece of the business to gain your financial freedom.
